What it is: Workplace harassment covers unwelcome conduct, bullying, discrimination or a hostile work environment, including sexual harassment. The UAE Labour Law and related regulations address dignity at work and prohibit harassment and discrimination, with additional protections in DIFC and ADGM. When it applies: A claim may arise from repeated mistreatment, offensive conduct, discrimination on protected grounds, or retaliation after raising a complaint. How a lawyer helps: A lawyer assesses whether the conduct meets the legal threshold, advises on internal grievance procedures and the correct external authority, and helps document incidents. The lawyer can file a complaint with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation or the relevant free-zone body, pursue remedies including compensation, and represent you if the matter reaches the courts or tribunals. Where conduct is also criminal, the lawyer coordinates a parallel complaint. First steps: Record incidents with dates, witnesses and evidence such as messages, follow internal reporting channels where safe, preserve your employment documents, and consult a lawyer to protect your position and any entitlements.
